| Description / Comments: | 30 minutes. An exciting development in higher education in the increasingly widespread adoption of service learning as an effective teaching and learning methodolgy. Higher education institutions of all kinds are incorporating service into their academic programs, focusing on the aspects of the learning experience that they determine to be most appropriate for their students. This video takes you to five different kinds of these higher education institutions - a land-grant university (Clemson University), a state university (Eastern Michigan University), a community college (Brevard Community College), a private liberal arts college (Bates College), and a historically black college (Benedict College). Each perceives service learning as a significant contributor to the overall educational experience they provide for their students, yet each see this from its unique perspective. |
