Designed for students who will use English in the
university or in professional fields, this book prepares
them for reading by means of extensive prereading
activities that activate and build knowledge of the
content, vocabulary, and structure of each chapter's
reading article.  The reading article topics will be
familiar to most students.  Reading strategy exercises and
extra readings recycle each chapter's vocabulary and
general theme.  

Each of the five chapters (Names, Textbooks, Things,
Containers, Supplies, Substances) follows the same format:
Prereading Activity; Prereading Exercises and Key Words;
Main Reading; Exercises; Activity; Extra Reading and Extra
Reading 2.  Text includes how to calculate words per
minute, key content words, and index.
