Description / Comments:
This publication contains the reflections and sample lessons
of the second phase project participants, created during the
training process. The interview with Robin Rose provides
readers with background information on participatory
education and the reflective writings offer insights into
the challenges and benefits of using the Fannie Mae
curriculum, and other economic literacy lessons, with young
adults. The lessons in the guide do not follow any
sequential order and can be further adapted to a teacher's
setting. The lessons are only examples of activities that
teachers used in their classrooms, as they experimented
with economic literacy and homeownership. Each lesson
offers background on the setting and/or topic, goals,
objectives, materials needed, and suggested activities for
assessment. While some lessons list Equipped for the
Future (EFF) standards, they do not offer details
concerning the components of performance for each standard.
Visit the EFF web site for more details
(http://www.nifl.gov). In the appendix there are
reflections from teachers in the first phase of the project
and a sample writing lesson.
